What Summer Solve Believes

Greg and his two kids on a cargo bike in Toronto

I'm Greg, from the East End of Toronto. I'm a parent of two, and I also build web software — I've been doing it for 15 years. I built and ran a web business, Checklick, for 9 years before selling my share to my cofounder, who still runs it today. Summer Solve is my second go at this.

I am building Summer Solve because my wife and I are the target audience. I know what it's like to manage a summer's worth of camp registrations across scattered websites, group chats, and browser tabs. I know the mental load. I know the forms.

I want to take a moment to share some of my values with you, and explain how they will shape this product:

Your data is a liability, not an asset.

I collect the least amount of information I can to make the product work. I don't want your data sitting on my servers any more than you want it there. If I don't need it, I don't ask for it. If I don't need it anymore, I delete it.

When this product becomes paid, you'll pay with money, not attention.

No ads. No sponsored placements. No "featured camps" that paid to be at the top of your results. When you search for camps, the results are unbiased — sorted by what matters to you, not who paid me.

No one is looking over your shoulder.

I don't sell your information to third parties. I don't use tracking pixels. I don't spray your activity across a network of ad-tech companies. The information you put into Summer Solve stays in Summer Solve.

Camp information is honest.

I have no commercial relationship with camps that would influence what you see. If a camp has limited hours, inconvenient pickup, or a bad refund policy, that's information you should have. I'm not going to filter it out because the camp is a partner.

Summer Solve is free through 2026.

I need to prove this is useful before I ask you to pay for it. When I do eventually charge, it will be a small fraction of what you already spend on camps. I don't want anyone to have to think twice about whether it is worth paying for.

Thanks for helping me build Summer Solve!

Greg
